Dementia Risk Reduction & Brain Health
From 2/13/2024 (RECORDING OF PAST SESSION)
Evidence to support efforts to reduce the risks of developing dementia has grown enormously in the past decade, culminating in reports from the Lancet Commission in 2018 and 2020. These reports suggested that addressing 12 potentially modifiable risk factors of dementia could reduce global dementia by up to 40%. This session looks at three key studies that helped drive knowledge about addressing risk factors of dementia, and then examines several of these risk factors with an emphasis on lifestyle or other changes that can be made to potentially reduce the chances of developing dementia.
Presenter: George Worthington
Dementia Services Coordinator: Virginia Department for Aging & Rehabilitative Services
