The Regional Transportation Collaborative (RTC)

Aging Together is joined with the Regional Commission, the Community Services Board, and other key community programs and stakeholders in a mobility management model called the Regional Transportation Collaborative (RTC).
The RTC model was created in August 2020 as a response to limited transportation resources in the region, a challenge augmented by reduction of state funding. Through comprehensive data collection, and community response to local discussion and surveys, transportation deficiencies was highlighted as a priority for resolution and supported acquisition of alternative funding sources.
Aging Together partners with the Regional Transportation Collaborative on several levels. Through funding sought by the RTC, Aging Together supports the collaborative with a staff person who recruits volunteer drivers that help older adults and those with disabilities get to appointments, grocery stores, doctors, etc. The RTC in fact relies heavily on volunteer drivers to provide this transportation. In Fiscal Year 2021, the equivalent charitable donation from volunteer driver hours and miles driven contributed over $350K and provided rides to over one thousand individuals throughout the five-county region.
Aging Together also provides outreach assistance to all the partners with a staff professional who supports their marketing efforts throughout the region as needed.
