Dementia Friendly Business Trainer
"Dementia Friendly Communities" is an initiative of Aging Together as part of a greater movement both in Virginia and the country. Aging Together works under the umbrella of Dementia Friendly Central Virginia to accomplish this initiative, of which we are a member. The goal of the Dementia Friendly Initiative is to train business staff with basic dementia information so they are prepared when those living with dementia visit their organization. Aging Together facilitates training of volunteers who then offer the hourlong sessions out to the community businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, banks, government groups and more.

Aging Together Signature Event Committees
If you like planning, organizing, helping find sponsors, developing new ideas, and you work well with teams, we'd love your help planning any of our signature events by participating on a committee. Each event's commitment includes approximately one meeting per month, assistance with various preparation activities that align with your strengths and interests, plus help on event day if possible.
5 Over 50 Celebration
The annual 5 Over 50 Celebration is in May (aligning with Older Americans Month). One person from each of our five counties (Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange & Rappahannock) is honored for the positive impact they make in their communities. The celebration includes a film of the honorees, and a watch party/reception in each county.
Art of Aging Lifestyle & Wellness Expos
The Expos take place in the Fall and include a wide range of exhibitors with products, resources, and activities for older adults. Multiple expos take place throughout the region to help assure accessibility. Choose the expo closest to where you live and help us put together one of Aging Together's most popular events!

Administrative Support
Because our staff is small, Aging Together can use you for a wide variety of office-type activities! Let us know if you'd like to support small jobs like putting together information packets, preparing for events, general office help such as making photocopies, proofing documents like our Regional Resource Guide for Older Adults prior to publication, and other like tasks as they arise. Though this is not a regularly scheduled volunteer activity, if you'd like to be on our call list when we need help, let us know!
