RESOURCES FOR VETERANS
Title 38 of the Code of Federal Regulations defines a veteran as “a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.” Any individual that completed a service for any branch of armed forces classifies as a veteran as long as they were not dishonorably discharged. An individual need not have been involved in a war or military conflict to be considered a veteran.
A "wartime veteran" is an individual who served in the active military forces, during a period of armed conflict or who received the armed forces expeditionary or other campaign service medal during an emergency condition and who was discharged or released under other than dishonorable conditions.
