Our presenter is Poppy Foddrell who is the VICAP Coordinator with Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services. VICAP is the Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program which provides free, unbiased assistance to help with Medicare benefits. Poppy helps explain Medicare and answer your questions.

The Power of Personalized Activities for Those Living with Dementia
June 25, 2021

Aging Together's Executive Director, Ellen Phipps, speaks about what the "person centered approach" means in terms of caring for someone living with dementia, and offers tools to formulate activities around person centered care. A great listen for any caregivers, family or professional, who are looking for better ways to successfully communicate with, and help those living with dementia. This presentation is in association with Mason Music & Memory Initiative (George Mason University) which works to improve the quality of life of persons living with dementia by using personalized music to access long-held joyful memories and positive emotions.

COVID: Trauma & Recovery

Session 3 delved into a few of the negative effects endured from the pandemic, some of which are longer lasting. And it offered remedies to cope with some of the personal "losses" the pandemic left us with, such as loss of purpose,  life meaning and safety -  for example.

Prepare to Care - Tips on Caregiving
Presented in partnership with AARP Virginia on 2/18/2021​

Listent to David Hunt as he offers tips for family caregivers to prepare for the future and have a caregiving plan in place. By doing so some of the stresses of caregiving are removed. 
Mr. Hunt is a volunteer Community Ambassador with the AARP Virginia State Office.
