As a group, the LGBTQ+ population faces unique stressors associated with being a minority. They may have a higher chance of being affected by poverty, unique health conditions, and mistreatment in care facilities. They can encounter duel discrimination based on both their age and also their sexual orientation. Social isolation is often a challenge with this group as they may live alone and not have children. Any of these challenges may be compounded if they are also a minority race or have a disability.
We continue to advocate for minority aging populations through shared resources.
