DEMENTIA FRIENDLY WORKPLACES- For Businesses and Organizations:
Dementia Friendly Workplace training is an initiative of Aging together as part of a greater movement both in Virginia and the country. Aging Together works under the umbrella of Dementia Friendly Central Virginia of which we are a member. Dementia Friendly Communities helps your business be comfortable and prepared when those living with dementia visit your organization. In return you open up your business to a greater population who may find it difficult to participate in their communities otherwise, and so have a propensity to stay home along with their caregivers. It's a win-win. You'll receive a "We're Dementia Friendly" window decal.
The Dementia Friendly Initiative is intended for any businesses or organizations in the community that are open to the public. Typical sessions last about an hour. Join the movement!

Dementia Friends is a growing movement that started in the United Kingdom. It was
developed with the goal of creating awareness in communities about what
dementia is, the many ways it is manifested, and how people can respond and help when
they encounter someone who seem confused.
A Dementia Friend can be anyone in the community. One does not need to have any
medical background or any association with dementia to become a Dementia Friend. All
they need is the desire to help and make a difference, which is powerful for those living with any dementia related disease.
Aging Together encourages everyone to become a Dementia Friend simply by
attending one free informal session where they will learn tips on how to identify and help someone with dementia. Let’s
make our entire region Dementia Friendly!
