The initiative for Aging Together originally began in 2022 as a pilot program in Culpeper County. The Culpeper Chamber of Commerce partnered with us from the start which created a seamless connection to the business community.

Regular training sessions are held as multi-business group sessions that can also serve as train-the-trainer sessions. Click on a county above to find out about current trainings (You are welcome to join another county's training if it better serves your schedule).
If your organization is interested in being trained as a Dementia Friendly organization at your place of business, please contact us at [email protected] or 540-829-6405 (leave a message and we will get back you you quickly). Or watch for scheduled training below.

Our trained volunteers can provide a 30-60 minute learning session for your staff to help your organization become dementia aware.
In the session, your group will learn:
- basic facts about Alzheimer's disease and related disorders that cause dementia
- 10 warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease
- tips for communicating and interacting with a person living with dementia
- tips for creating a dementia-friendly physical space and discuss case studies (longer sessions)
In return for participating
- Aging Together will provide the organization with a window decal to publicly identify the organization as dementia friendly
- The organization will be listed as dementia friendly on the Aging Together website and in other promotional materials. Marketing your organization as dementia friendly offers a mutually beneficial relationship when you welcome and reassure a demographic not always comfortable with public interaction.
- Participant organizations will receive a quarterly email newsletter with additional information and resources that help.
