2010 Community Conversation on Aging was held on June 17th at Germanna Daniel Technology Center. Community members gathered to share their ideas for making Culpeper a better place to live and grow older. Project Director Sallie Morgan and Project Manager Chris Miller gave an update on the strategic planning process followed by an open discussion with community members. The Healthy Culpeper Senior Adult Committee hosted a slide presentation with speakers from the community talking about their experiences with Aging Together partners.
Caregiver Training -
Healthy Culpeper Senior Adult Committee sponsored a Caregiver Training seminar on March 13th from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. All participants were enthusiastic about what they learned.
Senior Citizen Prom - Healthy Culpeper Senior Adult Committee hosted the second Senior Citizen Prom on April 10th from 2 - 5 p.m. at Culpeper Christian School. More than 150 people ranging in ages from pre-teen to mid 90's attended the Prom and everyone had a wonderful afternoon.

"Culpeper Boomers" Rally to Help Support Weatherization Project

Community Organizing
Your Aging Together Team has been busy since the Culpeper Community Conversation held in June 2009. As a direct result of the comments and suggestions given that evening, the Culpeper Senior Adult Committee has developed their goals for next year. In addition, team leader Bonnie Vermillion along with Aging Together partners and staff recently attended a day-long workshop on Community Organizing. Vacation Bible School - not just for kids...
The Mature Adult Vacation Bible Study program hosted by Reformation Lutheran Church was a huge success! Nearly 30 senior citizens from Culpeper County participated in the three day event, August 4-6th. Each night adults 50 and better gathered for bible study, craft, music and fellowship that centered around the theme “Healing.” Arby’s in Culpeper generously donated dinner all three nights of the program.
Tech Time for Seniors
Healthy Culpeper Senior Adult Committee in partnership with Aging Together, St. Luke's Lutheran School, and Katherine Ayers hosted an introduction to computers class for area seniors. Twenty-five people enrolled in the class, which included topics such as Email, word processing, spreadsheets, using the web, and more. Culpeper Community Conversation on Aging 2009
The Healthy Culpeper Senior Adult Committee hosted its annual Community Conversation on Aging with an expert panel presentation by community leaders Frank Bossio, Lee Kirk, Jim Charapich, Pastor Brad Hales, and guest speaker Alan Rasmussan. Meet Community Volunteer Josephine Minor
Since retiring last year after working 30 years for the Culpeper County School Board, Josephine, 66 knew that she would need to keep busy. Shortly after she retired she started attending the Culpeper Senior Center. She saw that many of the seniors needed help, so she ask site coordinator Gladys Williams if she could assist them.
